Social Smoke, Inc, a hookah distribution and manufacturing company, located in Grand Prairie, Texas is developing a new product lines devoted to improving the hookah experience through quality premium accessories and products. The idea for a premium product line developed after they noticed the lack of efficiently designed and quality consistent accessories on the market. Social Smoke already recently released stainless steel tongs, and will be coming out with a new line of clay bowls in January.
The bowls are unique in that they are the first multi colored glazed bowls, made from clay rather than ceramic, offering consistent quality. Traditionally bowls were hand made from clay in the Middle East, and are frequently still produced in the same manner throughout that region. Problems, however, with the construction of clay bowls inspired the production of bowls using other materials. As a result, modern bowls are typically made of ceramic, glass, or stainless steel. With the sacrifice of tradition, came a new set of issues: Clay bowls are stronger than both ceramic and glass. While durable, clay bowls have their own set of problems as well. Unfortunately, while the custom and history of clay bowls is cherished, the tradition is riddled with inherent problems: Frequently these bowls have cracks, lack symmetry and consistency, and are just in general of poor quality. So why choose to produce clay bowls? Well when asked, the President of Social Smoke responded:
“People assume if there’s color it means [the bowl] is ceramic because that’s all that’s on the market. We chose to do a colored clay bowl because colors allow for versatility but the clay preserves the physical strength and cultural heritage of the bowl.”
Social Smoke takes an added pride in the fact that their bowls extend the tradition of hand craftsmanship and materials without violating the quality and consistency their clients cherish and expect from their company.
These bowls come in five earthy colors: black, blue, brown, green, and red. Even more impressive is their distinctive appearance. With an elongated cone for a base, the bowls are perfectly balanced and proportioned and truly provide a beautiful twist on an aged design. They boast unique perfectly sculpted ridges, standardized hole spacing and base size. The cracked glazing, providing the perfect antique - old world feel, gives the bowl an enchanting charm. The bowls are truly gorgeous!
They will be offered in medium, large and extra large sizes. The bowls have a very unique design featuring both a wider and deeper lip, intending to create more space for tobacco and a longer, fuller, and flavorful smoking experience. If all that were not enough, they will also be available in double, triple, and quadruple heads (for those who like to mix their tobacco).
Social Smoke bowls will be most likely be offered between $5.00 and $18.00 (depending upon the style and size), and are currently slated to hit the market January 1, 2007. They will be available for both retail and wholesale markets (So shoppers make sure you ask for them at your local hookah shop!).
