Dallas-Fort Worth members of the Internet based Hookah enthusiasts group, Hookah Forum, arranged an all day party to meet face to face fellow members and friends they had met on line. The Hookah Forum provides an unique opportunity for hookah lovers to voice their opinions and experiences on a wide range of topics (both hookah and not hookah related). It is arguably the Internet's most prominent English based discussion site for hookah aficionados. Thanks to the Internet, the site serves as a virtual hangout for its members, not bounded by geographic and cultural barriers. The Forum has exploded in recent times to the tune of over 2,200 members in over 40 countries and is growing daily.

On October the 28th, 2006, Dallas-Fort Worth members of Hookah Forum arranged the first ever Hookah Forum Party, an all day party intended to allow members to meet face to face with friends they had met on line. The party was open to all Hookah Forum members and was organized primarily by members Scalliwag and Evanslight. Financial assistance was offered in the form of a group money pool to make sure that anyone that wished to attend could, regardless of financial situation and without embarrassment. In total, approximately 15 Forum members were in attendance with one member actually driving four hours from Monroe, LA to attend.

The day kicked off with a relaxing outdoor cookout at Scalliwag’s house. Some members brought their favorite foods while  Scalliwag provided an assortment of dishes including grilled shrimp and chicken wings. For desert, Evanslight brought an assortment of home made brownies including his specialty, orange flavored brownies.  As the sun early in the evening, the group moved their party to  Heat Hookah Lounge in Irving, TX to meet up with some late comers and continue where they left off. At Heat, the loungy atmosphere turned out to be perfect for the group as it provided a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.

This group of down to earth people appeared to have as much in common as they did differences. While the common thread for everyone was their affinity for hookahs, the topics of discussions varied from politics, to music, to tobacco blends, to art, to just about anything else you could think of. Overall, its safe to say that the party was a great success. In fact members in attendance agreed work together to set up monthly parties or events for Hookah Forum.
