While Iranians enjoy ice cold water, and coffee, tea or Chay/Chaay is considered to be the national drink of Iran. So, what better to serve at a Norouz dinner than tea?!

Tea is normally served black and sweetened with sugar. Please enjoy this easy to prepare tea, with a modern twist, provided by Recipe Zaar*:

This Recipe takes about 20 min to prepare and 10 minutes to serve.

Ingredients/Materials:

  • ½ Sprig of fresh or dried mint.
  • ½ sprig of sage.
  • 2 tea bags of Ceylon tea.
  • Tea Pot

Recipe:
1. Let the mint and sage boil in a teapot full of water.
2. Once the water has reached boiling, add two tea bags.
3. For weaker tea, remove once the color reaches a light brown. For stronger tea, the darker the better!
4. Add sugar as desired.
5. Pour into your favorite cup and enjoy !

For a fun twist, try using vanilla Ceylon tea rather than the traditional black Ceylon tea.
